In year 2002

I am having one of those nights where I cannot sleep.    Through dozens of clicks on the internet, which included reading my horoscope,  dear abby, a notice that I had won an ipod   Dear Margo  and even catching up on For Better or for Worse.  I ended up reading an article from O magazine about making a magic list.   A list which puts out into the world what you wish for out of life.   Of course I made a Magic list of my very own-which  I will not tell you about-but it got me thinking of other lists I had made in an old journal.    I love making list, especially pro and con lists.   Lists of wisdom I have accumulated at the age of 22-”there’s no such thing as a free drink.”   And things that annoy me, number one on my exhaustive list from 2002?   Pseudo Anarchists.      I did write out a basic road map for my mid twenties, which was brought about by the fact that I was moving and starting grad school.

In the year 2002, I wanted to accomplish the following:

1.  Masters Degree(not done)

2.  Written excellent thesis(see one)

3.   No longer eat Broccoli and cheese its( check.  Casserole of Mothers.  Disgusting.)

4.  Meet Nice guy. This one is tricky, because I am sure I have met many nice guys, I just didn’t seem to like any of them.

5.  Have more faith in my Abilities.

6.  Present at a few academic conferences.  Ick.   God. I was so Naive.

7.  Have a good Haircut

8.  Have learnt[sic]  to listen better.

9.  Still very good friends w/Monica

10.  Have Boyfriend(mehhhh!  Mehhhhhhhhhh)

11.  Keep n btter touch w/old friends

12.  Have ability to express deepest emotions w/o sarcasm

13.  Be Gratful[sic]

14.  Fly a Kite

15.  Fall in Love-  I’ve certainly fallen into many things,  but maybe not into love.

16.   Learn how to speak fluent french–In french,  I’d think you say: Jamais!  tres triste.   I give up.

17.   Read the economist more diligently-the economist is too expensive to read regularly.  I should take this off the list.

18.  Neater- no comment.

19.  PHid aps if that’s what I want to do. Well, it’s not.

20.  Ability to stop talking to people who diss me.

21.  Be on time more often.

22.  Oragmi- Learn how

23.  Comic Book Draw

25.  Find something challenging to consciously improve upon.

You’ll notice the odds are around 3 out of 5-which isn’t really that bad.   More than a crap shoot,   yet less than definite.     Because of this, I’ve made my new magic list even more fabulous and wild.   Why?    Because why settle on the mundane when you are writing, not just any list,  but a magic list.     And if  my odds continue to be 3/5  then really,  3/5 fabulous things couldn’t be that bad.
